Our story

OUR JOURNEY

Since opening doors in 1959, The Soroka Medical Center (Soroka) has been proud to serve as Israel’s leading hospital in the southern region, providing exceptional medical care to the diverse population of the Negev.

As the second-largest hospital in the country, and a single tertiary medical center in a 200 km area, Soroka, which services more than one million residents almost exclusively, has taken upon itself to always be in forefront of science and technology.

After many years of cultivating innovation through multiple channels within the organization, we are proud to launch 31ºN, Soroka’s new innovation arm, charged with promoting innovation and collaborative entrepreneurship that will shape the future of healthcare.

PARTNERING WITH US

At 31ºN we identify medical fields & challenges (clinical, operational & others) that have the potential to be transformed by technology innovation.

We actively scout for startups, entrepreneurs, and developers, with innovative solutions including medical decision support systems, healthcare prediction algorithms, medical aid devices, and other groundbreaking ideas that can be rapidly examined and further developed in the Soroka environment.

Partnering with us gives technology ventures access to research, data, AI tools, and more importantly- people: patients, medical staffs, key opinion leaders, and decision makers.

THE MEANING OF OUR NAME

Our name is tribute to our geographical location, on the 31° 15′ 10.7028” N latitude, and signifies its role in our uniqueness as a hospital.

Here, in the Capital on the Negev, we service the most genetically diverse population in the region, and serve as the ideal research environment for the influences of global warming and desert climate on heath and healthcare. Although these are only two of Soroka’s many advantages as an innovation development partner, there is no other major medical center which share these unique attributes.
